Bubble blowers

So, what exactly are bubble blowers? Well, they are exactly what they sound like – a toy that allows you to blow bubbles!

Bubble blowers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but the most common type is a plastic wand with a circular loop at the end.

Why are they good for a party bag?

Well, first of all, they're great fun! Blowing bubbles is always a popular activity with kids (and adults!)

Secondly, they're relatively cheap – you can pick up a pack of bubble blowers for a few pounds/dollars.

And finally, they're not too messy – unlike some other party bag fillers (cough, cake, cough), you're not going to have to worry about sticky fingers or clothes covered in bubble solution!

Stickers

Stickers are another popular party bag filler – who doesn't love stickers?!

There are all sorts of different types of stickers available, from Disney character stickers to sparkly glitter stickers.

Why not let the kids pick their own stickers as a party activity? They can then put them in the party bags for their friends!

A themed item

If you're having a themed party, then it makes sense to include a themed item in the party bags.

For example, if you're having a pirate party, you could include a plastic sword or an eye patch; if you're having a princess party, you could include a tiara or wand; if you're having a dinosaur party, you could include a small plastic dinosaur... you get the idea!

Sweets

No party is complete without sweets, and party bags are no exception!

There are all sorts of different sweets that you can include in party bags, from chocolate bars to wrapped sweets. Just make sure you check with the parents first to see if their kids have any allergies!

Cake

If you want to get really technical, a cake is technically a type of sweet... but it's so much more than that!

A cake is always a popular choice for party bags, especially if it's homemade. Just make sure you cut it into small pieces so that it doesn't make too much of a mess!

Costume items

If you're having a fancy dress party, then it makes sense to include some costume items in the party bags.

For example, you could include a plastic mask or cape, or even a pair of fake glasses or moustache!

Just make sure that you have enough for everyone, and that you check with the parents first to see if they're happy for their kids to take home any costume items.

Fun party masks

Masks are always a popular choice for party bags, especially if they're of a character that the kids love.

For example, you could include masks of Spider-Man, Batman, Frozen's Elsa, or even Minions!

Mini torches

Mini torches are great for parties that are held in the evening or at night. They're also great for Halloween parties!

Just make sure that you check with the parents first to make sure they're happy for their kids to take home a mini torch.

Bubble Blowers

Bubble blowers are always a popular choice for party bags! They're great fun and they're relatively cheap, so they're perfect for parties on a budget.

Joke/prank accessories

Joke and prank accessories are always a hit with kids! Just make sure that you check with the parents first to make sure they're happy for their kids to take home any joke or prank items.

Bracelet

A bracelet is a great choice for a party bag filler! It's relatively cheap and it's something that the kids can wear home from the party.

Just make sure that you check with the parents first to make sure they're happy for their kids to take home any jewellery.

Scoubidou Strings

Scoubidou strings are always a popular choice for party bags! They're great fun and they're relatively cheap, so they're perfect for parties on a budget. It allows kids to make anything from keyrings to bracelets that they can swap or give to their friends.

A cooking item or ingredient

If you're having a baking-themed party, a cooking item or ingredient is a great way to go for a party bag filler.

For example, you could include a packet of cake mix, some icing sugar, or even some cookie cutters. Just make sure that you check with the parents first to make sure are no allergies, etc. you need to be aware of.

Seeds for the garden

If you're having a nature-themed party, including a small bag of packet of sunflower seeds, or even some cress seeds could be a great idea. Kids love getting their hands dirty, so they'll love planting these when they get home!

A group picture

A group picture is a great way to remember the party, and it's something that the kids can take home with them. Just make sure that you take it before the party gets too wild!

Puzzles or Jigsaws

Puzzles and jigsaws are always a popular choice for party bags! They're great fun and can be bought relatively cheap, so they're perfect for parties on a budget. You could even include a kit for them to make their own puzzle at home...

Pens, crayons, and rulers

Anything stationery usually goes down well in goodie bags! Especially of they are unusual in some way: Burger-shaped eraser, animal-themed sticky note pad... you know where are going with this..!

What NOT to put in party bags?

No one wants to be the parent(s) who dropped a clanger and included an inappropriate item in their goodie bags, so here's are a few things NOT to put in party bags, just to be on the safe side:

Party whistles & Party recorders

Party whistles get real loud, real fast, especially if you have several kids blowing them at once!

And party recorders... well, let's just say that they can be a little bit too realistic for some people's liking!

So, unless you want all your guests to leave the party with a migraine, we recommend avoiding both of these items.

Slime

Yep, it's the squeaky, sticky, icky stuff that's taken the world by storm in recent years. Kids love it - adults? Not so much...

Silly string

Silly string is another one of those items that can get out of hand very quickly! It's best to avoid this one if you want to avoid mess, arguments (and eventually tears).

Water balloons

Water balloons are great fun, but they can also be a bit of a hazard. We recommend avoiding them if you're planning on having younger kids at the party.

ANYTHING with glitter

Glitter is the stuff of nightmares - it gets everywhere, and it's nigh on impossible to get rid of..!

Unless you want to be known as the parent who included it in their kids' party bag, we'd highly recommend you avoid it at all costs!

So, How Many Things SHOULD You Put In a Party Bag?

Now that you know what NOT to put in a party bag, it's time to answer the big question...

Just how many things should you put in a party bag?

Well, the answer is relatively simple - it depends on the age of the kids, and how much you want to spend.

For younger kids (aged 3-5), we recommend filling their bags with around 3-4 small items. For older kids (aged 6-12), you can get away with 5-6 items.

Of course, if you're on a tight budget, you can always put fewer items in the bags. However, we wouldn't recommend putting any less than 3 items in each bag, as it can look a bit mean!

Try to remember to avoid anything too noisy, sticky, or messy, and you'll be sure to please all the little ones.

Wrapping Up:

So, there you have it - a comprehensive guide to putting together the perfect kid's party bag!

Just make sure that you take into account the age and interests of your guests, and you're good to go.

We hope that you find this helpful - happy party planning!
